Question 1

What happens at an Open Event?

Your Tour will be conducted by our current students, and you will be able to spend time in areas of particular interest talking to our subject specialists. Our Senior Leadership Team will be available to speak to you throughout the morning.

How many children join Year Seven from outside the RGS Family of Schools?

Accepted Answer

Each year, 40-50% of our pupils join RGS Worcester in Year Seven from Primary and Prep Schools outside of RGS, and the remaining pupils join from the RGS Worcester Prep Schools. Pupils join RGS from over 45 different schools so often one or two pupils will join from a primary school.

How do I apply for a Scholarship for my child?

The Entrance Exam is also the Academic Scholarship Exam so all pupils are automatically entered for an Academic Scholarship. Those who perform particularly well in the Entrance Exams will be considered for a Scholarship which is a percentage reduction in the School Fees. Pupils applying from the RGS Worcester Prep Schools will need to apply to sit the Scholarship Exam by contacting the Registrar.

How do I get a Scholarship?

All external applicants sitting at 11+ and 13+ will automatically be considered for Academic Scholarships. Those 11+ pupils we feel are potential Scholars will be invited back during the week following the Exam for some extension work and an interview with the Headmaster. We also offer Scholarships at 11+ in Art, Drama, Music and Sport.

What is the process for Sixth Form entrance?

What is the process to apply for a Sixth Form Scholarship?

Accepted Answer

For the Sixth Form, Academic Scholarships are available, along with Scholarships in Art, Design Technology, Drama, Music, Sport, and Textiles. Candidates who apply for an Academic Scholarship will have an interview with the Head of Department of the subject they are applying for and a member of the Senior Leadership team.

What format does the Entrance Examination take?

This varies by Year group: At 11+ and 12+ (Year Seven or Year Eight entry) candidates sit a one hour Maths paper, and a 45 minute English paper. They also have break and lunch. Pupils come into School on a Saturday in November each year and sit the exams in classrooms (not an exam hall). They are supported by staff and pupils.
