How do I apply for a place at Rokeby School?

Boys can be registered for 4+ entry at any time from birth by contacting the Admissions Registrar, Jo Pink, at admissions@rokeby.org.uk . A non-refundable registration fee of £120 applies. Families are also warmly encouraged to visit the school at an Open Morning or one of the regular Coffee Mornings before applying.

When are Reception places offered?

Reception places are allocated from January of the year before entry, meaning offers are typically made around 20 months before a boy starts school. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis once the process opens, provided a boy has already been registered.

Can my son join Rokeby at 7+ or 8+?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Rokeby holds assessment mornings each November for entry into Year 3 (7+) and Year 4 (8+) the following September. The assessment covers an English paper, a Mathematics paper, computer-based verbal and non-verbal reasoning, a group music or drama activity, and an informal interview. Late places do sometimes become available, so families are welcome to enquire at any time.

What happens once my son is offered a place in Reception?

Accepted Answer

Once an offer is made, families have six weeks to accept and pay a non-refundable deposit of £2,500 to secure the place. This deposit is held until the end of Year 8, or the end of your son's time at Rokeby, provided a term's notice has been given.

Once an offer is made, families have 10 days to accept and pay a non-refundable deposit of £2,500 to secure the place. This deposit is held until the end of Year 8, or the end of your son's time at Rokeby, provided a term's notice has been given.

Can my son join in other year groups?

Yes. Occasionally, places are available in other year groups. Please contact the Admissions Registrar, Jo Pink, at admissions@rokeby.org.uk for information about our current availability.

Question 7

What are the before-school and after-school care facilities?

Accepted Answer

At Rokeby, we offer a breakfast club service (for a small fee) commencing at 7.30 am. Early-morning care is also available for Reception to Year 3 boys from 8.15 am and is free of charge. Boys in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 can use the After-School Care facility from 3 pm - 6 pm.

When can my son start using the school bus?

All boys, including those in Reception, can use the morning and afternoon school bus. For boys in Reception, we do suggest you ensure that your son has happily settled into school for a week or so first.
