Editorial verdict

Houseroom's view of the school.

teaching

Academic reputation is described as strong. The 11+ is a focus but not an obsession; preparation builds steadily from early years so pupils approach entrance exams with confidence. Specialist teaching in French, Spanish and Mandarin, science, art, music and PE is offered from the start. By Year 3, pupils have their own laptop, move between lessons and manage their own timetables and homework. Mrs Nicholson begins senior-school conversations as early as Year 3 and has strong relationships with senior-school heads. pastoral

Pastoral care is woven into daily life. Staff meet twice weekly to discuss pupil wellbeing. Mental health first-aiders and PSHE are embedded across the school. Wellbeing Wednesdays mean no homework for pupils or parents. Mrs Nicholson is present at the school gate every morning. Wraparound care runs from 7.30am to 6pm. A shuttle bus links the two sites. The Friends of Breaside parent association runs events including ice-skating excursions and a summer fair. A tradition sees Year 6 pupils serve afternoon tea to parents before leaving for senior school.

last word

Breaside's expanding footprint has not diluted its deeply personal approach. Happy children, thoughtful teaching and a genuine sense of community make this a standout Bromley prep.
