Without Houseroom
Twelve prospectuses, nothing you can line up
Each school tells its story differently — a glossy PDF, a buried fees page, results quoted on whichever measure flatters most. You end up with a dozen tabs open and no honest way to line them up.
What makes it different
Why research schools works here.
Not another feature list — the specific things only Houseroom does, and why they matter for the decision in front of you.
One like-for-like record per school
Fees, results, intake, inspection and destinations in the same shape for every school — so comparing is a glance, not a lost afternoon.

Every figure carries its source
Each data point links to its source — the school's page, the ISI report or DfE data — with the date we checked it.

FAQ
Questions parents ask.
Where does the data come from?
Every figure comes from a public source we name and date. The primary source is each school's own published admissions pages for fees, entry points and assessment formats; we cross-check against published ISI inspection reports and Department for Education open data. Each record shows its source and the date we last reviewed it, so you can verify any number yourself.
How current is the information?
Tracked schools are reviewed on a weekly cadence, and every record shows when it was last checked. Fees refresh each admissions cycle and on any mid-year change, inspection ratings update when a new report is published, and leavers' destinations refresh annually as schools release results.
What does 150,000+ data points actually cover?
It's a database of more than 150,000 verified, sourced rows across roughly 670 schools. A fully covered profile holds over a hundred structured fields — fees, exam results, intake numbers, scholarships, term dates, facilities, staffing, ISI inspection and leavers' destinations — all in the same shape for every school so they compare cleanly.
How do you compare schools fairly?
We hold the same fields for every school in one normalised format, so comparisons are genuinely like-for-like rather than each school's chosen highlight. Our Index uses nine published pillars with public weightings, and where a school's public data is thin we flag the gap and down-weight it instead of guessing.
Do I need an account to research schools?
No. You can browse the directory, open full school records and compare schools side by side without signing up. A free parent account adds saving your shortlist, deadline tracking and your child's fit — but the core research is open to anyone.
What if I find a figure that looks wrong?
Flag it and we re-check it against the primary source. If it's wrong, we correct it for every parent — not just on request from a school. Because each record is dated and sourced, you can usually see straight away whether a number is simply older than you expected or genuinely off.

Is it really free, or is there a catch?
Researching and comparing schools is genuinely free — no card, no trial clock. Houseroom makes its money from paid tools further down the journey, like expert consultations and services for schools, never from charging parents to see the data or from letting schools pay for placement.
Can I trust the data, or do schools pay to rank higher?
No school can pay to rank higher, buy placement or edit a published figure — that's a structural rule, not a promise. Every data point names its public source and the date we checked it, so you don't have to take our word for it. Where a school's public data is thin, we say so rather than fill the gap.
