House rules

Last updated: 15 May 2026

Houseroom works best when parents can compare schools without guesswork, panic, or anonymous score-settling. These rules apply to forums, reviews, shortlist notes shared with other adults, and messages sent through Houseroom.

1. Be specific and fair

Share first-hand context where you can: year group, entry point, open day, admissions route, bursary route, commute, or the date you spoke to the school. Avoid sweeping claims that other parents cannot verify.

2. Protect children and families

Do not post a child's full name, medical details, school reports, exam scores, interview feedback, or family circumstances unless it is your own family information and genuinely needed for the conversation.

3. No admissions gaming

Do not share leaked papers, live interview questions, private assessment materials, paid manipulation tactics, or advice that asks another parent to mislead a school.

4. Disclose conflicts

If you work for a school, tutor, consultant, agency, publisher, or related service, say so before recommending it. School staff should use school accounts for school-facing replies.

5. Keep it useful

Houseroom is for practical school research. We remove spam, harassment, discriminatory posts, doxxing, personal attacks, and repeated promotional content.

6. Verify before acting

Dates, fees, bursary rules, assessment formats, and open-day availability can change. Treat Houseroom as a decision tool, then confirm important details with the school before paying or applying.

Moderation

We may edit, hide, or remove content that breaks these rules, and suspend accounts that repeatedly make the service less useful or less safe for other families. To report a concern, email hello@houseroom.uk.
