Question 1

When should I apply for my daughter to join the school?

Accepted Answer

There is no advantage to early applications, all candidates are considered based on their performance in the admissions process. Applications should be made between April and the application deadline (usually early November) of the year preceding the proposed year of entry to the school.

How many places are available at 11+?

Accepted Answer

There are usually around 110 places available for entry to the Senior School, of these approximately one-third go to pupils from our own Junior School with the remaining two-thirds being offered to girls joining LEH at 11+.

What format do the assessments take for entry at 11+?

Accepted Answer

Our entrance assessments consist of the ISEB Common Pre-Test (Stage 1a) and our own Problem-Solving paper (Stage 1b). The ISEB Common Pre-Tests are computer-based, age-standardised tests in Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Maths and English. The Problem-Solving paper tests linguistic and logic problem-solving and includes elements of Maths and English.

Do you recommend tutoring before the assessments?

Accepted Answer

We do not recommend tutoring, although, at 11+, it is sensible to ensure your daughter is prepared for examination-style conditions and to working in a timed environment. If your daughter has never worked in timed conditions before the entrance examinations, you may wish to prepare her at home for this style of working.

When can I apply for a bursary place?

Financial support may be available to candidates applying to join the Senior School. You should indicate on your application form if you wish to apply for a Bursary. Our Finance Team will be in contact with you in the Autumn Term to give you access to the on-line Bursary application forms.

Question 6

How do I apply for an academic scholarship?

Accepted Answer

Academic scholarships are only applicable for entry at 11 Plus. All candidates who complete the entrance examinations at 11Plus are automatically considered for academic scholarships.

Question 7

How do I apply for a music scholarship?

Accepted Answer

Music scholarships are available for entry at 11 Plus. You should indicate on your application form if you wish to apply for a music scholarship and complete the online form together with any supporting references from music teachers. Candidates may be invited for a music audition after completing the academic selection stage of the admissions process.

Question 8

Can my daughter take the entrance examination at her current school overseas?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we can arrange for your daughter to sit the entrance examinations overseas. Please contact the Registrar for further information.
