One award, one measured thing
There is no “best school overall” award here. A composite ranking already exists and says what it can; putting a trophy on top of it would add authority without adding evidence. Every award below rests on a single measured dimension, so the claim it makes is exactly as strong as the data behind it.
A school only competes where we measured it. Several pillars carry a neutral default when data is missing. A default never wins anything, and a segment with fewer than 8 measured schools produces no award at all rather than crowning the only entrant.
We only name a winner when the data produces one. Inspection-led pillars resolve to a handful of bands, so dozens of schools genuinely tie at the top. Naming “the best” there would really be naming whoever sorts first alphabetically — so every tied school holds the badge and we print the count.
Clear leaders
One school stands alone at the top of a metric that discriminates finely enough to separate it.
The largest share of a year group receiving an Oxbridge offer — not the largest number of offers, which mostly tracks sixth-form size.
The highest verified academic score, built from published A-level, GCSE and offer-rate figures rather than from any external ranking.
The highest verified destinations score — where leavers actually go after school.
Shared top ratings
These come from banded ratings rather than continuous scores, so the schools below are genuinely tied. Every one of them holds the badge.

There is no parent-rated award, and there cannot be one yet: no review corpus has been ingested, so the parent pillar sits at zero coverage. When that changes it becomes the strongest category here, because it is the one thing a ranking cannot derive from published data. Awards are recomputed from live data — see the methodology for how each pillar is built.
