Editorial verdict

Houseroom's view of the school.

Eltham is a good, solid secondary option and is now co-ed. It’s not as academic as Dulwich or Alleyns and the really bright kids go to the grammars if they can get a place. However, I would say it adds good academic value and the academic results have steadily improved over the years. It has good sports facilities and is fairly easy to get to with school buses from various places. It used to be more sought after than Colfes or Farringtons. We have kids local to us going to eltham college. They were at Blackheath prep. Haven't heard anything negative. The parents all seem to be happy. The school seems to have decent facilities. We went for their open day and quite liked it. DC loves football and unfortunately the school doesn't have football as part of sports curriculum so he didn't want to consider it as a choice.
