Editorial verdict

Houseroom's view of the school.

teaching

The curriculum is designed with children at its centre and described as knowledge-rich, with no rote learning. Weekly philosophy and oracy lessons run from Year 1 upwards to foster collaborative thinking. Science is hands-on and linked to sustainability. The innovation hub includes a STEM room with a Lego wall and a podcast studio with green screen. There is a strong English focus, with a reading-ambassador points scheme. The school is actively moving away from screens: homework is done in exercise books and upper-year pupils no longer bring personal devices. A pastoral team supports SEND pupils, though the school is candid that children who would struggle to keep up academically may not be

pastoral

Headteacher Henrietta Adams operates an open-door policy for pupils and parents. Ensuring every child is happy and settled is described as integral to every school day. Parents are kept informed via weekly newsletters and regular meet-the-teacher sessions. The community is tight-knit, extending to local institutions such as the church, theatre, cinema and sports centre. Pupils in Year 1 and above walk daily to a refurbished local church hall for lunch. Pupils apply for prefect positions by submitting a mini CV; roles range from library leads to eco ambassadors. Six houses foster inter-year friendships.

last word

Stunning academics don't happen by chance at this west London prep—a holistic approach to teaching engages pupils and generates curiosity, collaboration and a lifelong love of learning. It is a genuine village-like community in the capital that prepares children brilliantly for their next adventures in education.
