Our take
Independent girls prep school in Hammersmith and Fulham for ages 3–11. Selective entry.
Best for
- Families looking for a prep school covering ages 3–11.
- Parents who want a single-sex environment for their daughter.
- Children who can demonstrate strong academics at entry assessment — this is a selective school.
Watch-outs
- Selective entry — assume some form of assessment at the relevant entry point. Plan tutoring or familiarisation early if needed.
- Single-sex (girls). Comfortable for some children, less so for others — worth a visit on a normal teaching day rather than only an open-day showcase.

Welcome to Bute House, a dynamic, exciting, rounded and rigorous environment in which girls flourish and thrive and, most importantly, have a great deal of fun. We wrap this up in a pastoral blanket of care and support; these children are being educated to work in a world which, in some ways, we cannot imagine yet. Our commitment is to ensure that the pastoral care of the girls is as valued as their academic progress.
