Heartwood House

Heartwood House provides for students studying at KS3 and KS4. On occasion they may admit a student who is chronologically outside those key stages, but whose needs are best met by studying at either of these levels (e.g. a year 12 student who has missed a significant amount of their secondary education and needs to gain accreditation at GCSE level). The school expects students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally, and to behave in a way that supports the development of others. The school environment is small and supportive, requiring students to contribute positively or at least not damage the learning or personal development of their peers. Admissions are individual and based on suitability, with certain red flags such as persistent aggression or bullying leading to declined places. The admissions process involves referral from local authority SEN teams, informal visits, assessment of SEMH needs, and a six-week trial period to ensure compatibility.
