About Social Arts for Education
SAFE is a provision that aids the recovery of students who have continually suffered from bullying and associated psychological problems. A typical student will have SEMH (social, emotional and mental health needs), displayed through passive and anxious behaviour. SAFE is much smaller than most schools with only four classrooms, providing an individualised and holistic experience. The teaching methods and environment reflect the SPELL framework (Structure, Positive Expectations and Attitudes, Empathy, Low Arousal and Links) encouraging a low-stimuli environment where children are at ease and accepted. SAFE's main goal is to allow children to learn in a safe and understanding environment so children's confidence becomes strong enough to take the life opportunities they deserve. The school does not have a uniform or dress code. SAFE is not suitable for students who display aggression regularly. The school offers a broad, balanced curriculum but fewer subjects than mainstream secondary schools.
