About this programme

European Youth Summer Music is a one-week international orchestral and vocal summer course for young musicians aged 11 to 21, held each summer at St Catherine’s School, Bramley, Surrey, with residential or day places. It is for orchestral instrumentalists, singers, accompanists and composition students from about Grade 6 to post-Diploma standard, and there is no audition for the course. Students play in four orchestras, sing in the course choir and choose daily options such as chamber music, big band and musical theatre, with evening activities run by house staff. A non-refundable deposit secures a place and the balance can be paid in instalments.

One-week course (Jul 26-Aug 1). 4 orchestras, residential or day places. 15-20 vocal places. Supported by Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation.

Entry

Required playing standard from Grade 6 to post-Diploma (or overseas equivalent). No audition for general admission; video auditions are used for Course Orchestra Leader and concerto soloist places.

  • Comfortable clothes, a white shirt with black trousers or black jeans for concerts, towels (bedding is provided) and your own instrument (not needed for percussionists).
