About the reference calendar
- The reference calendar is a typical London state-school pattern for 2026/27. Real London Authorities cluster within ±3 days of these dates but each LA publishes its own.
- Score: 100 − (start/end drift days × 0.7) − (half-term drift days × 1.5), clamped to 0–100. So a school whose terms start and end on different days but whose half-term lines up perfectly will still score well; a school whose half-term is a week off takes a bigger hit.
- Half-term “clash” means the school's half-term starts seven or more days from the reference. A 1-week gap often means cousins / state-school siblings have a different week off, killing holiday plans.
- We're working on a per-LA reference dataset so this can compare against your specific borough's state-school calendar rather than the typical pattern.
