FAQ
Questions parents ask.
Is tracking deadlines really free?
Yes. Tracking schools and getting deadline reminders is part of the free parent account — no card needed. Schools cannot pay to change a date, push an alert or rank above another, because Houseroom is independent and takes no paid placements.
How accurate are the dates, and what if a school changes one?
Every date is reviewed weekly against the school's own published admissions information, and each entry carries its review date. When a school moves a date, the next review picks it up and your reminder shifts to match. If you ever spot a difference, you can flag it and we check.
Which entry points and year groups are covered?
Reception and pre-prep entry through 7+, 8+, 11+, 13+, 16+ and Sixth Form, plus occasional and in-year places where schools publish them. You see every relevant date for a school in one place, whatever stage your child is entering at.
How will the reminders reach me?
You choose — email, SMS or WhatsApp. Alerts go out ahead of each deadline on a roughly 10-minute delivery cycle, with a queued backup so a reminder is never silently dropped. You're warned early enough to act, not on the morning a window shuts.
Can I add these dates to my own calendar?
Yes. Tracked dates can be synced to your personal calendar, so school deadlines sit alongside everything else in your week rather than in a separate app you forget to open.
How many schools do you track?
Around 674 UK independent schools, with their open days, registration windows and assessment dates kept under a weekly review. You track the ones that matter to your family and ignore the rest.

Still deciding?
The honest answers.
Is this actually free, or free until you ask for my card?
Genuinely free. Tracking schools and receiving deadline reminders are part of the free parent account, with no card required. We're independent and don't take paid placements, so a school can never pay to move a date or send you an alert.
What if a school changes a date and your reminder is wrong?
Every date is checked weekly against the school's own published information and stamped with its review date, so when a school moves a deadline the next review catches it and your reminder shifts too. Spot a mismatch and you can flag it for us to verify.
